Hand Painted Mini Pouch-Zewar

When I painted this piece, I found myself thinking about all the jewelry I’ve loved over the years.

The pieces bought for weddings and Eid. The pieces passed down from mothers and grandmothers. The pieces carefully wrapped away and brought out again for special occasions.

I’ve always loved how jewelry can hold memories. Long after an event has passed, a single piece can remind you of a person, a place, or a moment in time.

Featuring a hand painted jhumka, Zewar is inspired by the role jewelry plays in South Asian culture and the stories attached to the pieces we keep.

Zewar is part of the Nishan Collectible Series, a growing collection of hand painted pieces inspired by cultural memory, nostalgia, and the everyday objects that stay with us long after the moment has passed.

Each pouch is painted by hand using leather acrylic paint and sealed with a protective finish to help preserve the artwork over time.
