About Nishan
Growing up between cultures, I found myself drawn to the objects that quietly carried memories, jhumkas tucked away in a jewelry box, a favorite pair of khussas, a well worn tea tin in the kitchen, familiar packaging on a grocery shelf, and the small details that instantly transport you back to a place, a person, or a moment in time.
In a world where so much feels mass-produced and interchangeable, Nishan is my way of holding onto the things that make us who we are. It is a celebration of everyday desi nostalgia, cultural memory, and the beauty found in ordinary objects that are often overlooked.
Every piece begins as an original painting and is created by hand. I paint each item individually, paying close attention to color, texture, and detail. No two pieces are exactly alike. Small imperfections, variations, and brushstrokes are not flaws, they are reminders that a real person made them.
Nishan is not about reinventing culture or making grand statements. It is simply the intersection of the things I love most: art, storytelling, tradition, and the objects that connect us to our roots.
Through paintings, prints, and hand-painted accessories, I hope to create pieces that feel familiar, meaningful, and personal. Whether a work reminds you of your childhood, your family, a place you’ve left behind, or a tradition you continue to carry with you, my hope is that it becomes part of your story too.
Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade work. It means more than you know.
